Tips to avoid fees

Although there are some fees that can’t be avoided, there are plenty of ways to avoid or reduce some fees altogether.

ATM

ATM surcharge

Instead of using an ATM, ask for cash back at a retail store. It’s usually a lot less than the surcharge fee charged at ATMs. You can also dodge the surcharge fee at any CO-OP ATM in the U.S.

No Fees

Non-sufficient funds

Avoid overdrawing your account and getting charged a fee. For added security consider overdraft protection or adding a line of credit to your account.

Dollar Bills

Excessive withdrawal

Try not to use your savings account as a transaction account. A good rule of thumb is to keep your monthly transactions to no more than six per month. However, when performing this transaction at branch, it will be exempt from being counted.
