In Our Community
A commitment to doing better.
People are our purpose
We exist for one purpose: to care for our people and communities. We rise to the challenges of each new day and strive to raise the bar for everyone by doing things the right way—with care, commitment, and attention to detail. Together, we can make an impact and lift each other up, neighbors helping neighbors.
Putting our money where our mouth is
It’s not about the actual dollars, but what we’re able to do with them. The impact that we’re able to have, whether it’s helping someone get back on their feet or making sure they have enough food on the table. Here’s how we strive to make a difference, both in banking and in life.

The causes that drive us
We see a better world ahead. These are the areas we focus our efforts and attention to make the greatest impact on our communities.
Food security
We believe everybody needs access to nourishing food.
Access to housing
We believe everybody deserves a place to call home.
Financial well-being
We believe everybody should have the knowledge, skills, and resources to achieve their financial goals.
Sense of community
We believe everybody is more successful when they have a sense of belonging, ownership, and mutual support.
Care for our planet
We believe we have a responsibility to protect the planet for our children, their children, and generations to come.
Partnerships and sponsorships
We partner with other organizations and sponsor local community events to amplify voices, highlight others making a difference, and increase our collective impact in building a better world.
Building community
From Church Street to the waterfront, we’ve been an annual sponsor of Burlington’s Discover Jazz Festival since 2017. We love to support local artists and see our community come together each year around the universal language of music.
Supporting local artists
The Bright Ideas Project is the idea-generating machine behind Highlight, Burlington’s citywide New Year’s Eve festival. The Bright Ideas Project garners ideas from creative people in Vermont and supports them with funding, technical assistance, and promotion.
Protecting vulnerable people
Winter is a tough time for thousands of Vermonters. Fuel Your Neighbors is a fundraising initiative that supports Capstone Community Action in their work to provide emergency food and heating assistance for vulnerable Central Vermont community members.
